But Who is The Greatest Saint?
Item Information

Times are Changing...
Let us go back to the beginning of the 20th Century. While men were going about their business as usual, unsuspecting, dark clouds were looming on the horizon, thus announcing the two deadly wars. Outwardly, they were the striking symbols of the great upheavals which were going to deeply affect the invisible planes and all fields of human society for a long time. The cosmic energies which had come into action some time before and which would become stronger and stronger as the years went by, had started to make their grip felt on the planet and on everything to be found on it. They had come to put an end to the old order so as to bring in a new society and especially a new state of consciousness, by powerfully pushing man towards his inner God (also called soul), this eternal goal – the reason why man had incarnated. Humanity was now entering a long cycle of great Transformation of consciousness.
End of the Old Order
We did indeed say “put an end to the old order”. This means that man, as individuals and as the entire humanity, will no longer have any choice in this new cycle. He must join in with the upward movement of this powerful, new vibratory atmosphere or else be blown away like a straw in the wind, just like a small ship which tries to sail on in very powerful winds can only become shipwrecked. He will be swept away, not because he is being punished for having sinned, but because, quite simply, he will not be in harmony with the vibrations which rule the planet, as is the case with a tree from tropical regions which dies when it is transplanted to a cold region. This is simply a scientific fact.
However, man has not been left to his own fate; in fact, just like a parent who foresees the different stages his children will go through in their growth and consequently provides for their education and training, in the same way, God who, in spite of appearances, has been watching over the evolution of human beings from the beginning of time, foresees each stage of their growth, and depending on the circumstances, mandates one or several of His Emissaries to instruct, guide and protect them.
Take Hold of the Guiding Hand
The story of the Sacha lineage of which we will give a brief sketch here, is the story of some of these divine Emissaries who appeared publicly from the beginning of the 20th century. Their aim is to help man throughout this cycle of the Great Transformation of consciousness called Parivartan in Sanskrit, so as to lead him towards divine light and true peace under the best aegis. This is what this lineage’s work is, one which is carried out concomitantly through two complementary channels: first, channelling and adapting the divine energies which arrive from the higher planes through mystical action on the subtle planes so that human beings can use them safely; secondly, instructing on the physical plane, those who are ready and will wish to follow their teachings so as to be better adapted to the new vibratory conditions. Their disciples, when they have attained enlightenment or a high level of development, will, in turn, go and teach their brothers and sisters.
A great chain of light will thus progressively spread all over the Earth, greatly helping to create a world of brotherhood, wisdom and love. This is not a utopia, for it will ineluctably come about during the course of centuries if men take hold of the guiding Hand. The Masters have made this sacred commitment, and they always keep their promises, for they are Agents of God to whom all the necessary powers and wisdom are available for that purpose. The only things which limit them are men’s karma and their lack of wisdom, which very often push them to prefer the lure of a life turned only towards the physical world, as if one could find true peace or happiness in that way. Moreover, in their work, Masters strictly respect the free will of the men they guide, and so they cannot make men happy unless the latter cooperate by accepting their help.
God in the Centre of Your Life
However, it must be specified that the Masters of the Sacha lineage have not come to create a new religion nor any sects, for big religions already exist and they provide the main teachings to be followed, viz. that one should love and serve God above all, and also love and serve one’s neighbour who is the reflection of God on Earth. Is there one big religion whose main teaching is not this? The Masters of the lineage therefore tell man to open his heart to God and all beings; they tell him to love with a love which lays down no conditions.Furthermore, it is necessary to follow an appropriate spiritual discipline daily in order to nurture the light and love which is latent in each of us. They do not, however, ask that one should leave the world and go away to monasteries or other places of seclusion. Each person orders his life as he wishes, but what is important is to put God in the centre of everything. Then God who had been hidden in the heart from the beginning will reveal Himself, and one will become a divine being, able to heal the ills of his brothers and sisters, as well as those of society. Furthermore he will be able to communicate to them this joy and happiness which they have been seeking for several incarnations without ever finding them.
The First Three Torchbearers
They Have Forgotten Their Origin
We are at the very beginning of the 1900s.Imagine one of these Emissaries who, at this turning point, had come to help humanity make a new start, and who realized that on the contrary, the latter was sinking deeper and deeper into the childishness of materialism while living a superficial life, having become very deaf to the call of its soul. The heart of the Emissary ached, for he saw men, his beloved ones, go towards the precipice without realizing it. He wondered what he could do, what he should do to avoid the coming disasters and save them, especially since his time in this world was drawing to an end. This Emissary’s name was Kacha Baba.
Imagine another divine being, another Great Emissary who had also come to help the entire humanity, and who, to do so, had decided to instruct as large a number of disciples as possible, so that they in turn, would spread his message throughout the world. For this sacred mission, he decided that he would have neither home nor personal belongings, constantly travelling from place to place and hardly ever sleeping. However, he realized that in spite of his great powers, the task was enormous, because the chains which held human consciousness captive in the phenomenal world, that of appearances, were heavy and strong! He invoked God so that the Almighty would give him the power which would certainly allow him to successfully carry out this titanic task. This Saint was Girnari Baba.
But Who is the Greatest Saint?
Finally, imagine God eternally watching over the destiny of the creation and in particular that of man, for this is really so, even though the lack of hindsight and understanding make us believe that inequality, injustice and the suffering of man are ample proof that this world is not governed by a ruling Power. So God, the vigilant Lord, whose other name is Mercy, and who was attentive to Girnari Baba’s needs, inspired him just this question: But who is the greatest saint? As soon as this question crossed his mind, he saw with his spiritual eye that the greatest saint was to be found in Jalupur, not far from Benares. Indeed this story took place in the holy land of eternal India, where Gods and men meet to unite heaven and Earth, as if to indicate that God is always among men and that at the same time, men have always been children of heaven who are here below temporarily.Girnari Baba was on the Girnar mountain in Gujarat at the time (this explains his name, Girnari which means “the one who is on the Girnar mountain”), but from then on the Spirit of God pushed him to go and meet this sublime saint. He therefore travelled to the east, to Jalupur, where he did find the being he had seen in his vision.
Why Dissolve the World?
According to tradition, when Girnari Baba met Kacha Baba — for he was the one who God had shown him as the greatest saint, the latter was chanting a mantra in order to dissolve the world. Seeing Girnari Baba’s stupefaction, Kacha Baba explained that men today had completely degenerated and, in accordance with the law of karma, they would undergo great suffering. Out of compassion, he therefore wanted to spare them the burning coals they had brought upon their own poor heads through behaviour which was contrary to Dharma, the divine law. Then he, Kacha Baba, through his powers, would create a new world and a new humanity which would be closer to the Divinity.Girnari Baba begged him not to dissolve the world for, he added, if he granted him the immense powers he possessed, this would allow him to transform men progressively from their present state. Kacha Baba accepted on the sole condition that Girnari Baba succeed in the tests he was going to submit him to, so as to see if he was worthy of such powers. It is said that Girnari Baba spent several years with Kacha Baba, and since the former was successful in all the tests, Kacha Baba left this world and transferred his powers to him. From a purely historical point of view, the Sacha lineage had just started to exist publicly, for Girnari Baba’s task of transforming men was about to begin.
Kacha Baba
Who was Kacha Baba? It is said that he was an extraordinary, mysterious saint with very potent powers and whose heart beat for the entire humanity, but who was deeply saddened by the state of man. It is also said that he was blind but strangely enough, he moved about and travelled from place to place like everybody, as if he had no such handicap. He lived in Jalupur surrounded by his disciples, who, for him, represented a miniature of the vast world. To him, their behaviour reflected the state of human society. As we have said, after leaving our world, he transmitted the powers which were going to make the regeneration of the world possible.Girnari Baba
Girnari Baba Now Girnari Baba, also known as Sacha Baba Girnari, was another great saint who was, in truth, just as mysterious. Nobody knew neither his mother nor father nor any of his relatives at all. It was never known from whence he had come, and it is said that he was very old at the beginning of the 20th century, as certain people thought he was more than two hundred and fifty years old while for others, he was more than four hundred years old. For thousands of years, he had had the faculty of appearing from time to time on the scene of the world to carry out certain missions entrusted to him by God, before retiring to some unknown place. He was a saint who behaved as a king and who, however, only wore old clothing. In spite of that, both rich and poor, Maharajahs and peasants as well as men from all ranks of society came to bow down at his divine feet in order to be guided by him, so great he was spiritually, and his powers immense! The Great Work Then Started
Once Girnari Baba was invested with Kacha Baba’s powers, which reinforced his own, he started to work for the regeneration of the entire humanity, and at the same time continued to instruct his disciples scattered all over India, which he constantly travelled. Having no ashram, the places where he temporarily gathered his disciples became centres which radiated light everywhere. He never failed to bring relief to both body and soul, many a time finding solutions to the problems of poverty, famine and sickness of those who had the privilege of coming into contact with him.
Concerning his task of regenerating humanity, this took place on planes which were too subtle for ordinary man to know what was happening. But one can be sure that he devoted all his attention and being to this task, for God Himself had entrusted him with this mission. Had He not directed him to Kacha Baba so that he would be given the necessary powers? It is said for example, that seeing long beforehand that the two world wars were coming, he worked very hard with other saints to shorten them and reduce their impact, for they could not prevent them from happening because of humanity’s collective karma and the wrong choices it had made. It is useful to mention here that Girnari Baba’s total dedication to the task of regenerating the world will be forever a powerful stream which will be passed on intact to the different torch bearers of the lineage who will come after him, for they also will throw themselves body and soul into this task.
In 1936, a young man from Bihar who was looking for a job came to ask Girnari Baba to help him. The latter promised to do so if he stayed with him for some time. Finally the young man, whose name was Kulanand (we will call him Kulanandji to show respect as is done in India by adding ji to the name), became his closest disciple. It has been said how much his spiritual progress was extremely rapid. A short time later, he became the one to take care of the Master’s personal affairs while both travelled around the country as usual.
Sacha Baba Kulanandji
Sacha Baba Kulanandji When Girnari Baba saw that his disciple had definitively reached the stage which would make him become a great Mahatma (a very great saint), he decided to leave this world in June 1944, for he knew whose responsibility it would be henceforth to continue the task he had started. This sad event broke Kulanandji’s heart and also that of the Master’s numerous disciples. However, he appeared a little later to Kulanandji and told him to go to the Himalayas to undergo special spiritual training. He did so. Kulanandji spent more than two years there, and reached the summit of spiritual realization, attaining unity with God and his Master. He, himself, became Sacha Baba Girnari, since all the powers of the latter had been transferred to him, as well as the fact that their respective beings merged through a mystical process, which happens from time to time in the history of the greatest saints humanity has known, whether in the East, the West or elsewhere. This complete merging with his Master was later recognized by his former fellow disciples and other great saints. However, so as to distinguish him from his own Master Sacha Baba Girnari, we will call him Sacha Baba Kulanandji. Nevertheless, today all the disciples of the lineage quite simply call him Sacha Baba and manifest profound veneration to him.It was in the Himalayas that God revealed to him that he should work for the transformation of the world, and indicated quite clearly the different scenarios for this task, with their respective advantages and drawbacks. It was up to him to decide the way this work should be carried out. He therefore came down from the Himalayas to undertake the mission of his life, the one for which he had come back in a physical body among men. He then founded an ashram in Allahabad, and little by little his extraordinary magnetism, his sublime love, his high spiritual state and extraordinary powers drew to him thousands of disciples. It seems that it was Sacha Baba Kulanandji who made it known publicly that God had begun a great cycle of Transformation of consciousness called Parivartan, for apparently Girnari Baba had not spoken about it publicly (maybe because the time was not yet right). One only knows that Girnari Baba mentioned it to the Viceroy of India, when he wanted him to transmit the invitation for King George V of Great Britain to come and salute the flag of saints at the Ardh-Kumbha Mela in 1936 in Allahabad. After all, Girnari Baba had laid the foundations of the great Temple of humanity, and foundations are always invisible!
A Powerful Mantra to Awaken Everyone
Like his Master, and although he had an ashram, he travelled around the country to teach, revive the faith of many people, while looking after their bodies and souls. At the same time, he carried on his main work of the regeneration of humanity on the subtle planes. For this Parivartan cycle, he revealed a great, powerful mantra called Prabhu Aap Jago (Oh God, wake up in me and wake up in all beings). This special mantra brings down spiritual energies which bring about the awakening of those who chant it as well as the entire humanity. It is therefore an altruistic tool made available to all, and which can be used by all men and women of goodwill who bear the Common Good in their hearts. And more than ever there is a great need of beings of goodwill in this particular period of the history of evolution.Prabhu Aap Jago, Paramatma Jago,
Mere Sarva Jago, Saravatra Jago,
Dukhaantak Khel Kaa Ant Karo.
Sukantak Khel Prakash Karo.
Oh God of my heart, wake up in me, supreme Lord wake up
Wake up my whole being, wake up all beings everywhere
End this era of pain and suffering
Bring in the era of joy and bliss.
For the same purpose, from time to time the divine Master organized public activities, such as the important meeting of the main religions of the world in 1972 in Allahabad. On that occasion, he carried out a very powerful and rare fire ceremony called lakschandi mahayagna to promote the spiritual awakening of men and peace in the world. That happened at the time of cold war between the two blocks of Eastern and Western powers, and any armed confrontation between them could have been a disaster for the planet.
The Light of Dawn
In 1955, a young civil servant who was suffering from chronic dysentery came to see him to be healed, for all medical treatments he had tried had proved vain. When he arrived at the ashram, the Master gave him a room and suggested he go and participate in the session of devotional chants which was then going on in the temple. The following morning at dawn, the visitor attained spiritual enlightenment during his meditation! His life had just radically changed. His name was Hans Rajji. Some time later, he abandoned ordinary life and devoted himself to God and his Master Sacha Baba Kulanandji, who he highly venerated. He was initiated into the order of swamis to materialize this consecration to serving others. From then on, he set about spreading the teachings and message of his Master all over India. Little by little, disciples gathered around him for he also, under the direction of his Master, had become a great Mahatma. These disciples gave him the title of Maharajji, which means “great king”. In the middle of the 1970s, Sacha Baba Kulanandji advised him to build his own ashram in Rishikesh and settle there, for he who has become rich with the treasures of God must share them with his brothers and sisters. Sacha Dham ashram was therefore founded in the district of Laxman Jhulla and his disciples followed him there. But he loved Sacha Baba so much that he went to see him regularly and also invited him to Rishikesh.Meanwhile, Sacha Baba tirelessly carried on his task of awakening and enlightening human consciousness. It is said that meeting him was a striking experience because he infused light into the beings who came to him. One only needs to consider what had happened for Maharajji to be convinced that his contact was powerful. Sacha Baba Kulanandji, like Kacha Baba and Sacha Baba Girnari, was an authentic avatar and a great instructor who made a deep spiritual impression on people.
Unfortunately in 1983, the divine avatar left this world, leaving behind excellent disciples. Some of them undertook to spread the message of light, love and universal brotherhood of their Master, while others, without teaching formally, modestly lived this ideal their daily lives, thus becoming inspiring, living examples for others.
The Present Torchbearer, Maharajji Sacha Baba
Shri Hans Raj Maharajji Sacha Baba As for Maharajji, through his own development, he had attained the highest spiritual realization and had incorporated within himself the powers of Sacha Baba Kulanandji, his Master. It was to him that God then entrusted the torch of the Sacha lineage and therefore also that of humanity’s regeneration. In that way, the light and torch of this lineage are transmitted from Master to Master and will never be lost.
Sacha Baba Kulanandji had indeed left the physical plane, but for a very great saint like Maharajji, there is no separation between the different planes. He has always been in close contact with his Master. That is how the latter appeared to him and advised him to especially devote himself from then on to humanity as a whole, because of the extraordinary speed with which the Parivartan unfolds. Since then, while guiding his disciples, he has dedicated himself to this magnificent task. His whole being is focused on this goal, and religious festivals, where hundreds or sometimes thousands of disciples gather, give him the opportunity to address them about the Parivartan. He says that every person must be aware that the Parivartan has started, and that he should therefore do his sadhana (spiritual training) seriously. He has repeated that this cycle will bring great and wonderful changes, but also many upheavals.
